TRIQUETRA Open Day in Ventotene (17–19 October 2025)

Over the weekend, 17–19 October 2025, TRIQUETRA partners co-hosted an Open Day in Ventotene to present ongoing activities on Ventotene & Santo Stefano, with a focus on field monitoring and archaeological risk mitigation. The conference was organized by the Order of Geologists of Lazio and the Sapienza University of Rome/CERI, with the participation of the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts, and Landscape of Latina and Frosinone, and under the patronage of the Municipality of Ventotene. This event included guided visits and a technical briefing at the municipal hall.

Attendance included the Mayor of Ventotene, Carmine Caputo, the Superintendency (ABAP) of Latina & Frosinone, the Special Government Commissioner for the Restoration and Development of the Former Bourbon Prison of Santo Stefano, Giovanni Maria Macioce, and representatives of the national press. 150 people visited the Ventotene Field Laboratory and the archeological excavations of Villa Gulia at Punta Eolo during the three days.

Santo Stefano and Ventotene were highlighted as a pilot site for TRIQUETRA activities, Santo Stefano home to the former Bourbon prison will host classes and laboratories on geohazards as well as environmental and natural topics,  while Ventotene showcased the multi-parametric, multi-sensor cliff monitoring protecting Roman-era heritage and the on-going archeological excavations (e.g., Villa di Giulia, port, fishponds, cisterns).

The Open Day also received national coverage (AgenziaCULT), noting the collaboration among Sapienza University of Rome/CERI, ABAP Latina & Frosinone, and local authorities.
