Press Release: TRIQUETRA Workshop, Green Cluster Meeting, and 4th Plenary – A Week of Collaboration in Thessaloniki

The TRIQUETRA project began 2025 with three events in the city of Thessaloniki, uniting experts, stakeholders, and partners to drive forward initiatives in sustainability and cultural heritage preservation.

Day 1: Workshop on Climate and Heritage Technologies (January 8, 2025)

Held at the IT Center, AUTH Campus, the TRIQUETRA Workshop provided participants with hands-on training and insights into innovative technologies addressing climate change impacts on cultural heritage. The workshop featured:

-A session on the MAGICC/SCENGEN climate modeling tools by Prof. Zanis from AUTH, emphasizing their role in predicting and mitigating climate impacts.

-An introduction to hyperspectral remote sensing applications in heritage conservation by Daniele Cerra from DLR.

-Techniques in 3D geometric documentation to monitor climate-related changes at heritage sites by Stela Verykokou from NTUA. The interactive format enabled fruitful discussions and knowledge-sharing among experts from diverse fields.

Day 2: Green Cluster Meeting (January 9, 2025)

The Green Cluster meeting convened in the Central Library Auditorium, AUTH Campus. Focused on the intersection of sustainability and cultural heritage, the event highlighted:

Key project deliverables and future actions from the TRIQUETRA, THETIDA, RescueME, and STECCI projects.

An engaging Q&A session that showcased the work accomplished within the Green Cluster and outlined planned collaborations between the projects.

An open roundtable discussion promoting cooperation on technological advancements, dissemination strategies, and shared goals.

Attendees also had the opportunity to explore Thessaloniki’s cultural heritage with a visit to the historic Church of Agios Nikolaos Orphanos, renowned for its 14th-century frescoes and unique architectural features.

Day 3: 4th Plenary Meeting (January 10, 2025)

The concluding event was the 4th Plenary Meeting, during which project members reviewed progress, discussed strategic initiatives, and set goals for the coming year. The meeting reinforced the commitment to collaboration, innovation, and sustainable practices in preserving cultural heritage.
